Curiosity (The Ballad Of Awareness)

Hanna Stalmack and Bee Vrieland

Shoved in fences,

They are.

Whose fault does it fall?

The bird or the manipulated metal?

Trimmed logs severed like limbs,

Littered branches with exposed fibers like broken bones.

Is there a way to live in harmony,

Or is curiosity the tragic ballad of us all?

Curiosity (The Ballad of Awareness) is an installation piece that invites participants to walk across a pathway of branches, grab a bird and place it in the wire on the back wall, where they will read a poem that forces confrontation with their actions.

Viewers will need to enter, to fulfill the incessant desire of curiosity, to disrupt the space, to then immediately confront their negative impact on the natural world.

This participation aims to remind viewers how precious nature is.
